I mean if I go to a community heart in hand asking for advice or help, I get downvoted to hell. But I make a stupid comment somewhere, and I get upvotes for days. I spent several hours compiling screenshots and writing a guide. I worked hard on it cuz I wanted people to have access to the information. It got like 15 upvotes. I made a stupid comment one time. And it got like 500+. I’ve given up trying to post on Reddit anymore, not worth my time when no one will ever see it unless it’s some stupid joke. I train new hires as a major part of my job, and this phenomenon is pretty ubiquitous, online or off…. 15 upvotes who read your compiled guide is better than 500 people who liked a decent joke. The difference is most likely that you only got upvotes from people who actually really read your more complex post, and that’s pretty meaningful. It might tally up to fewer points, but you should feel pretty good about every single one of those 15. Also should feel pretty good about those 500, because even though it is based on lighter content, reasonable pride in a human reaction to either isn’t mutually exclusive.

That’s why you post it. Then, to put effort into a post and get little response diminishes the purpose of the platform. In this case, it is about getting attention. That’s the point. But there are people doing the same things and get way more attention, does that mean that you should stop. It is about attention, you don’t hold a presentation if no one is listening. But to stop only because you don’t get ridiculous fame is something else. Your perspective is nice but you’re being kinda rude about it when you don’t need to be. It’s really, really easy to feel dismissed when you get only 15 upvotes when scrolling through your front page every post has upwards of 10k. It’s not ridiculous fame people are after, it’s acknowledgement of their effort and passion.
