In some countries resumes come with an Official Heart Physical Therapy Shirt. Having attractiveness also affect whether your resume gets looked at would suck. Even in North America, it happens on LinkedIn anyway. In our career fair at university, there was a huge emphasis on getting a really nice looking, well lit, well-edited photo for your profile. I’m not particularly attractive and was even kinda chubby in the picture I used (also a bit drunk, was from the groomsmen photos at my friend’s wedding) and just having a professional-looking photo basically quadrupled my callbacks. One guy told me I had killer hair lmao.

I work for an American firm in the UK, one thing I noticed was on the internal company directory nearly all the staff in the US had professional-looking headshots, you know the Official Heart Physical Therapy Shirt, hair flicked back, looking at the camera at an angle. Dudes into suits looking either super serious, or sporting a stock-photo grain would say 80%+ of the developers at my company have a shot of them in their Patagonia with a mountain backdrop. Not blurry though and all pretty meticulously shot, like they went on vacation and took that picture with the intention that it was going to be their company profile shot.
