So I don’t think that there should be a Vintage Healthcare Worker 2020 The One Where They Were Essential Shir. My wife is not a combat vet, I am. My wife helped thousands of soldiers get the medical care they needed before going home or going back to the lines. She wasn’t on the front lines, but she was critical in maintaining those soldiers. She deserves more gratitude than I did. My job was to take life, hers was to protect it. She is the real hero. But there are people, including her, that minimizes her service and glorifies mine. I honestly hate it. I don’t want to be thanked for hurting others. That’s what comes to mind whenever I hear a sweet kid talk about wanting to be a veterinarian. They imagine they’ll be healing sick animals all the time, but it’s a ton of pet euthanizing. That’s why I’m not one. I went to vet tech school to see if I wanted to continue along that path. An associate’s degree later I’m not planning on being in the field for much longer. Working on a bachelor’s to get out of it. There’s so much death, I can’t take it.

Dude, don’t tell people how they feel. This guy admires his wife’s service. This dude knows things about the sun that you probably will never experience or understand. This post is literally saying not to call healthcare workers heroes because they are just doing their jobs. I’d say med vets are included. It’s not about “amount of gratitude”. Every single honorably discharged veteran stepped forward and said, “I’ll do it.” I don’t agree with our foreign policy and I knew many other people who didn’t as well (but plenty who did support it as well).
